In addition to all the great features included with our WildDial Internet, like 10,000 nationwide access numbers, access in Canada and Puerto Rico, our HiSpeed Internet adds the following additional features, for only $4.00 more a month:
- Surf at up to 6x faster!
- Pop-up Blocker
- 5 email accounts per dialup account.
- 50 meg of space for each email account.
- Personal Calendar (per email account).*
- Auto-Sync Picture / FileSharing system.*
If you surf the Internet using a dialup Internet connection, you know how slow Web pages can load. Wild-Dial HiSpeed is a optional add-on that works with your existing Wild-Dial Internet account, allowing you to dramatically increase your surfing speed. Pages that previously took almost 30 seconds to load, can now be viewed in less than 7 seconds (on average) and sometimes even faster.
What Gets Accelerated?
Most Web content will be accelerated, but there are certain exceptions:
| All text - HTML, markup, and javascript | Secure pages, such as those used for online banking and credit card forms. Why doesn't Propel accelerate HTTPS? Technically, to accelerate HTTPS it would have to be actively breaking the protocols in use and spoofing the desired destination site. However, doing this would create a break in the security of the HTTPS protocol, potentially allowing the logging and clear text visibility of the user's private data, such as credit card numbers, PIN codes, and passwords. Propel does not accelerate HTTPS traffic because this level of security risk is unacceptable to our users. |
| Most graphics & photos including jpeg and gif images |
Streaming media, and audio and video files
Why not compress streaming media? Video and audio files formatted for streaming have already been compressed to the maximum level. Any further compression would degrade the files beyond an acceptable level. |
| Most banner ads including animated gif images and Macromedia Flash content |
Files downloaded outside your browser using ftp |
| All browser-based emails | |
| POP3 and IMAP protocol emails and attachments |
|
| Outgoing SMTP email especially acceleration of large messages with pictures or attachments including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files |
*Personal Calendar and Picture / FileSharing features coming September 1st, 2006.
