This refers to policies that restrict the way in which a network may be used. Usually, a network administrator makes and enforces the rules.
Access Number
The number your dialer uses to connect to the Internet.
Adware
Adware is a type of advertising that pops up on your computer screen while another program is running. Many believe that adware is unsafe because it can include certain codes and capabilities that allow personal information to be tracked and documented without any knowledge of this occurrence.
Alias
An alias is short and quick nickname to refer to something else with a longer name. For example, to e-mail Dale, I just type "dale" instead of "dale@example.com". The same would apply for a system resource or application that you assign a "nickname".
Anonymous FTP
Logging on to a server anonymously allows you to access and download files in the public domain. If you are logging on to an FTP site from your web browser, chances are you will be logged on as "anonymous" automatically. Many FTP site's support anonymous access, but not all.
Antivirus software
